Aug 09, 2023MAN CITED FOR DEPOSITING TRASH
August 4, 2023 10:15 a.m.
Roseburg Police cited a man for depositing trash within one hundred yards of a waterway, and for a dog leash law violation on Thursday.
An RPD report said at 2:20 p.m. officers checked on the 39-year old man’s camp in Gaddis Park, in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street. The camp was located between the ball fields and the South Umpqua River. The camp was described as being “huge” and contained about ten tarps attached to the trees, and contained about three truckloads of trash and debris. The man’s dog was also off its leash in the camp and he was unable to catch it when officers asked him to leash it. The man admitted that his mess was out of control and admitted he knew he was not allowed to be camping at that location, due to the new ordinance.
Along with the citations, the man was given some trash bags and instructed to clean up his mess.
